Her Majesty Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck

Her Majesty the Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck is a patron of Lhaksam. This was made possible through the support of the Executive Director of RENEW who approached Her Majesty on behalf of Lhak-Sam. Her Majesty is the Founder of RENEW (Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women) and the UNFPA Good Will Ambassador.

Her Majesty on the 11th October 2013, granted an audience to 29 HIV positive members of Lhak-Sam and the Minister of Health, Director General of Public Health and the Executive Director of Lhak-Sam. During the International World Aids day celebration at the Thimphu Clock Tower, Her Majesty as the Chief Guest also launched the First Strategic Plan of Lhak-Sam (2014-2018).

 

It was during the 2011 World Aids day celebration at the Youth Centre, where Her Majesty was Chief Guest, when one of the Lhak-Sam members for the first time declared his positive status to a large gathering. Later in the evening he was joined by four other members in a live panel discussion on the Bhutan Broadcasting Service.

Her Majesty Gyelyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck is well known for her efforts in the field of Sexual and reproductive Health Rights (SRHR), Gender Based Violence (GBV), HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).

With the support of the Executive Director of RENEW, Lhaksams request for In discussion with the Executive Director of RENEW (Respect, Educate, Nurture and Empower Women), on 7th of June, 2013, Lhak-Sam wrote formally to RENEW Organization, for her kind assistance to approach Her Majesty the Gyelyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck, founder of RENEW and Good Will Ambassador of United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA), on behalf of Lhak-Sam for Her Majesty’s kind consideration to be the patron of Lhak-Sam.

Thinley Dorji (chairperson of the board)

Mr.Thinley Dorji works with NHDCL as the Chief Executive Officer. He has worked with Kuensel Cooperation for more than 15 years with his last position as the Deputy Managing Director. After obtaining B.com Honors from Sherubtse College, kanglung and Post Graduate certificate in Financial Management from Royal Institute of Management, Semtokha. He pursued his post graduate diploma in Business Administration from School of technology and management, London and Maters of Business Administration from University of East London.

 

 


Lam Ngodup Dorji

Lam Ngodup Dorji

Lama Ngodup Dorji is the 15th generation of Shingkhar Lama at Shingkhar Dechenling under Bumthang District which is considered as one of the Eight Lings established by Omniscient Longchenpa in Bhutan. He holds a Masters Degree in Buddhist Philosophy from Ngagyur Nyingma Institute, Mysore, India and he has taught in DeSisto School, The Berkshires, Massachusetts, USA for number of years. He is also a member with the Global Fund Country coordinating Mechanism in Bhutan.

 

 


Dechen Dorji

Mr .Dechen Dorji is currently the Country Representative for the WWF program in Bhutan. Prior to Joining the WWF, he served as policy researcher and Professional Assistant to His Majesty the King. He has a Masters degree in Environmental Studies from Yale University and an Undergraduate degree in Forestry from University of Wales, UK. Mr. Dorji has worked for close to 7 years in Eastern Bhutan managing regional forestry and agriculture development project funded by the World Bank and IFAD. He is also the founding Director of the Ugyen Wangchuck Institute for Conservation and Environment located in lamegompa, Bumthang, where he worked for close to 4 years establishing the Institute in commemoration of the Centenary Celebrations of our Monarchy. Besides his professional portfolio, he actively engages in several charitable programs and takes keen interest in engaging with Youth issues and promoting activities of various civil society organizations in the country.

 


Chencho Tshering

Mr.Chencho Tshering is from Shaba in Paro and has worked in the Bhutanese media for 23 years. He has a journalistic background and has studied printing and production at the London College of Printing in the UK. Prior to establishing the tour company, he has been the Managing Director for the National Newspaper, Kuensel. He has an extensive wealth of knowledge and experience in media and social issue in Bhutan.
